About the project

The Scheuer-Bressler Youth & Community Center provides a full range of recreational, educational, and community services for children, teens, adults, seniors and new immigrants in the Kiryat Menachem neighborhood. The Jerusalem Foundation supported construction of the center in 1972, a second wing in the late 1970s, a third wing in 1983 and major renovations in 1990 that included repairs and furnishings for the main building and the sports hall. It also has supported activities at the center and at satellite family play centers in the Hanurit Street housing projects in neighboring Ir Ganim, including a children’s book fair in 1996 that drew 1,500 neighborhood residents and included performances, reading activities and a subsidized book sale.
