About the project

The David & Paula Ben-Gurion Rechavia Elementary School is the only secular public elementary school serving the Rechavia and Nachla’ot neighborhoods. The school draws approximately 300 students from these neighborhoods and other areas of the city. The student body includes new immigrants, Armenian Christians from the Old City and autistic children who are integrated into regular classrooms. The school participates in an annual project with children from the Arab village of Jabel Mukaber held at the Bible Lands Museum and undertakes joint projects with the adjacent Evelina de Rothschild Elementary School. The Jerusalem Foundation provided furnishings and equipment for the school in 1995 and renovated the school library in 2002 by relocating library furnishings, equipment and books from the former Masada Elementary School.
